Media Borough Recreation Board is responsible for the many wonderful events held throughout the year for all of Media’s residents. Last year, COVID brought everything to a grinding halt. Looking to the future, the Recreation Board began planning for post quarantine activities to brighten the lives of Media’s community. Paula Tenaro, recreation administrator, and the Recreation Board went to work to “tweak” events to make them “less one-on-one contact” so the community can come together and have fun again.
The “Tot Lot”, that was slated to be opened in the spring of last year, finally had its ribbon cutting ceremony on June 19th, 2021. But that was just the beginning. The July 4th celebration in Barrall Park kicks off the return of fun events for the community. The celebration which starts at 10 am will have games and competitions for children in the area featuring a bike decorating contest and a performance by Silly Joe. Movies in the Park will kick off on July 17th with “The Croods: A New Age” at 8 pm. July will also see the return of fitness classes to the Community Center and MYCamp for ages 1st – 6th grade. In September, Media’s recreation board is sponsoring a bus trip to the Spirit of Philadelphia with a lunch buffet aboard the ship and will set sail along the Delaware River giving you spectacular views of the Philadelphia skyline.
