Update 11/2/2021 – The new park will be dedicated as “Heritage Park”. Media Borough Council and the Heritage Park planning committee invite you to a ceremony being held at Media’s newest open space area, Heritage Park, located at 5th and Broomall Streets. We will be celebrating the life, times, history, and contributions of the African American Community that has helped to make Media, PA what it is today! Please join us on November 6th, 2021 from 2 to 3:30 pm
Funding for Heritage Park was provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program and Media Borough.
Construction activity for the new park at 5th & Broomall Streets has been underway since January. The park is scheduled for completion within the next 4 weeks. Topsoil is being applied this week and plantings will soon transform the space.
A beautiful stone tiered seating area now takes up the southwest corner of the park. It will also feature natural play areas, a quiet circular seating area around a tree for reading, a wheelchair-accessible trail through the park and a large rain garden.
The borough wants to thank park neighbors for their patience with the inconveniences posed by the park installation. Please continue to refrain from entering the site until the park is completed—for everyone’s safety!
If you have any questions regarding the park construction project, feel free to contact Media Borough Engineer Kevin Matson at kmatson@lighthouse-engineers.com.
