Long time resident and councilmember Peter Williamson has made Media his home for over 30 years. After accepting a position with Natural Lands Trust in Marple, he and his family relocated from their Raleigh, North Carolina home. He has served Media for over 27 years–14 as a Planning Commissioner and 13 as a Borough Councilperson. He currently chairs the Finance & Insurance Committee as well as serving on the Public Safety Committee and liaison to the Media Upper Providence Free Library.

Williamson greatly enjoys chairing the Finance & Insurance Committee. He sees it as a forum where government, business, and citizens come together to create and plan for the future of Media. It requires balancing the needs and desires of Media’s residents while continuing to cultivate growth and economic stability for the borough.
Williamson is an advocate for connecting people with the outdoors and is participating with Kevin Boyer and Amy Johnson on the Steering Committee of the on-going Open Space Plan for the borough, which lays out the priorities for the outdoor spaces that residents desire, while considering long-term financial and environmental sustainability (Toole Recreation Planning, Viridian Landscape Studio, and JMT are our consultants). He also looks forward to the new park about to begin construction at 5th and Broomall Streets. We expect it will be complete and open in May!
